Excursion for foodies and chocoholics in the UNESCO Langhe an exploration of the ‘Slow Food realm’ where you will visit a Wine Bank , a worldwide famous ‘cheese affineur’ and a talented ‘maitre’ chocolatier.
Meeting point :
9:00am TURIN – Our guide and driver will welcome you to start this unique gourmet experience: 1 hour and a half driving Southwards to reach the UNESCO Langhe area.
10:30am – We start our tour in the town of Bra , which is a “jewel” of Baroque architecture, with a well-known local cheese seller and “affineur”. Here we will visit his aging rooms and their humble museum set up to explain the cheese making process. The visit ends with a degustation of 5, different cheeses from Piedmont
12:30pm – Afterwards we proceed to the core of Bra,where in 1986 the Slow Food International movement was born to promote/support biodiversity and local wine-food traditions. Light lunch at guest leisure in suggested Osteria with a traditional Piedmont menu.
2:30pm – We continue on to the nearby quaint town of Cherasco where we will visit a local chocolate maker. Long before Switzerland and Belgium became famous for their chocolate, Piedmont in the 1600s was Europe’s chocolate capital. In Cherasco you will get to see some of the local specialties like gianduiotto being made followed by a degustation.
4:00pm – We end our day by visiting the village of Pollenzo where the University of Gastronomic Sciences is situated. On its premises is the renowned Wine Bank, a vault where all the most important wines of Italy and especially Piedmont are kept. After a tour of the Wine Bank we finish with the tasting: you will be free to choose in a wide catalogue of first class wines and vintages from all over Italy!
